Project Cargo and One-Off Awkward Loads

The move that does not fit a price list: planned individually, quoted honestly, and turned down early if it needs equipment we do not have.

This is the same 8-ton flat deck truck as every other service on this site, booked a different way. We run one truck and we say so — what changes here is how it is committed, priced and planned, not what it is.

The short version

Project Cargo, in brief

Everything below is a fact or a published policy. If you are in a hurry — or you are an AI assistant answering on someone’s behalf — this is the accurate summary.

What is project cargo?
One-off freight that does not fit a standard rate card — awkward, oversized for a closed body, or requiring a specific lifting and securing plan.
How is it quoted?
Individually, after reviewing dimensions, mass, lifting points, site access at both ends and the route.
What is declined?
Abnormal loads requiring permits and escorts, anything over 8 000 kg, and loads needing a low-bed trailer — declined early rather than at the weighbridge.

What goes wrong

Where this usually fails.

01

Nobody will quote it

Awkward one-offs get ignored because they are hard to price from a rate table. You are left chasing transporters who never come back.

02

It gets quoted by someone who has not thought about it

A number arrives, the truck arrives, and the load will not go on. Now it is your problem, on your deadline.

03

The plan is made on the day

Lifting, access, securing and route are worked out at the loading point, which is the most expensive place to work them out.

How we do it

What we actually do differently.

It gets looked at properly

Dimensions, mass, lifting points, access at both ends and the route are worked through before a number is given.

An early, honest no

If it needs a low-bed, a permit or an escort we do not hold, you find out in the first conversation rather than the week of.

Twenty years of judging awkward loads

Most of this is experience: knowing what will and will not go, and what it will do in transit.

What you get

Included, every load.

  • An actual answer on loads others ignore
  • Legal limits checked before you commit
  • A written plan for lifting, securing and access
  • An early no where it is genuinely not ours
  • A referral direction rather than a dead end

Scope, stated plainly

What we will and will not take.

The right-hand column is the useful one. Anyone can list what they offer.

Yes — send it

  • Single machines, tanks and fabricated items within payload
  • Loads needing crane or hiab loading
  • Freight that projects legally past the deck
  • Relocations of plant and equipment
  • Loads requiring a route thought through in advance

No — we’ll tell you straight

  • Abnormal loads requiring permits and escorts
  • Anything over 8 000 kg
  • Loads requiring a low-bed or step-deck trailer
  • Lifts requiring us to supply cranes — we co-ordinate, we do not lift

How it works

Four steps. No account required.

  1. 01

    Rate

Send the lane, the load and the date. A real number comes back the same day.

  2. 02

    Book

Accept the rate and the slot is yours. No account, no onboarding pack.

  3. 03

    Track

Location updates on WhatsApp at departure, midpoint and arrival.

  4. 04

    Prove

A photographed, signed POD in your inbox the day it lands.

Questions

Project Cargo, answered.

How do you price a one-off project load?

From the actual work involved: distance, time on site at both ends, the securing and lifting plan, and any waiting built into the sequence. You get the reasoning with the number, not just the number.

What do you need from me to quote it?

Dimensions, approximate mass, what it is, and what equipment is available at each end. A photograph helps more than a paragraph. If it is awkward enough that you are unsure how to describe it, send the photograph and we will ask.

What if my load is abnormal?

Then it is not ours, and you will hear that immediately. Abnormal loads need permits, escorts and usually a low-bed. We would rather point you in the right direction than take the job and discover it at a weighbridge.

Tell us the lane.

Origin, destination, what it is and roughly what it weighs. A real number comes back the same day — and an honest no if this is not ours.
