River Express Trading did not begin with a business plan. It began with twenty years of watching how freight actually moves across Africa — and how rarely the customer is told anything.
Twenty years, mostly on the road
Our founder has spent more than two decades in freight and logistics across Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa. Not administering it from a desk — driving it, loading it, working it through borders and delivering it, across multiple countries and through the major corridors.
That is an unusual background for someone running a transport company. Most operators come from business and hire the operational knowledge. This one came from the operational knowledge and built the business around it.
The problem is not capability. It is information.
The industry always knows where a load is. It knows what a rate is built from. It knows within an hour when something has gone wrong. It simply does not pass any of that to the customer.
Silence is not a technical limitation — every operator has a phone. It is a habit, and it survives because customers have no alternative to compare it against.
So we built the alternative
River Express Trading is the same experience and the same corridors, with the information handed to the customer instead of withheld. A rate the same day. A position you did not have to chase. Paperwork before you need it.
And a published list of what we will not do, because the things a company refuses tell you far more than the things it offers.
Where this goes
One truck is where we start, not where we stop. The long-term company is a verified transport network — the trusted layer between businesses with freight and independent transporters with capacity. That network does not exist yet, and every page describing it says so.
We are proving the operating model on our own truck first. Everything we will later ask a partner to do, we do ourselves today.
